What a sponsor does
A WagerLock sponsor is an accountability contact, not a second administrator for your PC. Protection-change attempts can trigger an email to the contact you saved. The sponsor does not need to buy a separate WagerLock subscription to receive an email.
Adding a sponsor does not replace enabling protection. You still need current trial or paid access and a protection duration. A sponsor email also cannot guarantee that someone will see or respond to an alert immediately.
Choose the contact carefully
Sponsors are optional and encouraged. During signup, you can add a sponsor or continue without one. You can add one later through WagerLock setup as well.
Ask the person first, confirm the email address with them, and explain what the alerts mean. Once you save a sponsor, you cannot change or remove that sponsor from the linked account and installation. The recipient can opt out. Do not use an address simply because it is easy to remember or belongs to someone who has not agreed.
What the email contains
An alert identifies you by your display name and describes the type and time of the protection-change attempt. It does not include your browsing history, a list of gambling sites you visited, or the gambling estimates from setup.
Seeing a gambling advertisement is not a protection-change attempt. Sponsor alerts are not a continuous browsing report, a location tracker or a payment-history feed. Email delivery also depends on the recipient address and mail provider, so check that your sponsor can receive the enrollment message.
Email works now; texting is coming soon
You can save an email address, an international phone number, or both. Sponsor texting is not active in the current service. A phone-only sponsor receives no alerts yet; provide an email address if you want working alerts now.
The sponsor can stop receiving emails through the opt-out link. You cannot reverse their opt-out on their behalf. That choice does not create a way to replace or remove your saved sponsor.
